Hey Ram! "Mahatma is equally mine so is yours!!!!"
The equivocation for reminding Mahatma Gandhi. The greatness of this man lies in his simplicity. Legend who made Indian Freedom in reality. The name Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi evokes images of the spinning wheel, Khadi, the phase of non-violent, non-cooperation in the Indian national movement, the Dandi March and the teeming millions of the Indian subcontinent. Truth, sacrifice and trust are used to fight for freedom and let thousands of people to get their doctorate in last 50 years on Gadhian Philosophy.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

-- M.K. Gandhi
This great soul is on sale for usage of his name, ideas and images by Tushar Gandhi, grandson of M. K. Gandhi, these rights are marketed by CMG Worldwide. Mahatma Gandhi foundation in India is responsible for maintaining the ideas, the philosophy, the essence of this man but they are now seems to like surrendered to this era of celebrity endorsements and brand ambassadors.

Two factors contributed to the sense of outrage.
Firstly, that the name of a leader of Indias poor and needy should be exploited for enriching a private firm.
Secondly, a more serious one to use the image of perhaps the most encompassing symbol of the Indian struggle, one would have to take permission from a company based in a foreign country.
Bapu is not a commodity, apparatus or a formula, it cannot be marketed or copyrighted. But still dont be surprised if you see "Mahatma Gandhi is trade mark and property of Mahatma Gandhi Foundation". Remember that the audio tapes are copyrighted by Prasar Bharathi.

It is quite confusing for me because Mahatma Gandhi has been declared as a national asset under the National Emblems Act.

What might the Mahatma think of all this controversy: My writings, he once wrote, should be cremated with my body. What I have done will endure, not what I have said and written. If only the living could leave him in peace.
I am screaming and shouting for my right on Mahatma, he is equally mine so as yours, he cannot be held by one.
