People like us across the border
[via TRIBUNE]
There is a realisation; we are the same people. When we see the people from across the border whether on their arrival here or on the Pak TV we cannot make out one from the other. Why this animosity? We are living with it for the past 50 years.
But then real brothers also have it for some similar reasons after they start living separately. It may last for many years, but in due course bones of contention crumble and cordiality evolves. Their children relish the kinship and proudly declare in larger gatherings that they are cousins.
Let the people of this sub-continent rediscover this kinship. Are we at such a threshold; alas there are more fears than hopes. But then hope sustains us. This is bound to happen sooner or later.

Long back I tried to speak to ADNAN, I remember I received a lot of hits from various websites. Does this mean they love us? or this means they are curious about us? Some of them wrote mails also, some were really judgemental, describing the disagreements on all the topics we have in mind.

Vajpayee to 'retire' if current peace effort fails
[via Economic Times: Politics/Nation]
A great leader has taken the stand to step back. There is always a proverb true for all of the peace efforts saying "You cannot achieve anything by playing flute infront of a buffelo". Pakistani politics has been a pan for a long and the attitude towards India has been like "Kutte ki Doom". I am very sure, normal Pakistani would also be opposing the Anti-India opinions.
Indian Prime Minister is determined to solve the issues but they are still adament on the same philosophy. They were able to fool the world and also the Pakistanis but I am not sure how long they will be abel to do this now. The peace keeping forces are sacrificing their lives in Kashmir for more than 50 years now. Billions of Dollars both the nations are wasting on the security systems at border. If the same funds had been utilised in proper dfirections, we could have succeeded in solving may of our root problems other than the sacrifice.
The pakistani forces must be short of Afghani militant by now, who were supposed to make make terrorism show in Kashmir (Thanks to USA).

Crime and Website (But not CyberCrime)

India is supposed to be one of the countries in the world, where control of Law and order departments has been contraversial. The studies till now have suggested the ways to avoid the crimes but nobody could ever stop them from getting misused. Check the www.gunaah.com website. I didn't know there can be so many categories of crimes, like the cyber crimes, sex crimes, political crimes. I understand a simple term crime. It can be any the penulty for it has to be there.

Actually the crime is also measured in terms of the severity for its impact. The impact is less, the penulty is less. In my opinion the crimes has to be reciprocative when they are punished against. It can be an interested debate topic. Think that, if somebody kills a person, he can get a penulty as life imprisonment, why not the life sentence. Mahatma Gandhi said, we should punish the crime inside the criminal, not the criminal itself. So on that basic assessment, we need a whole life to get the cured person out of a criminal. The rapist can move out in India openly after 7 years at most term of prison, but the woman who has suffered the rape, loses her whole social as well as the health life and sometimes the whole LIFE.

Indian Penal Code 509, which punishes the "intent to insult the modesty of any woman by use of words, sounds, gestures, or the exhibition of any object in such a way as to intrude upon the privacy of a woman;"and Indian Penal Code 354, which punishes the assault or use of criminal force with any woman with the intention or knowledge that her "modesty will be outraged."
The societly does not allow a raped woman to be free from the accident. We cannot change the society, so soon, but we can stop the same crimes happening again. A disasterous example in India, is not an old history, where a lower caste woman was set on fire after she accused a upper caste man for raping her. (here is the story). In this case the man should be punished at the same level as the woman is being suffered. There can be so many cases which can be spoken of.

Sarang Bhanage, one of my Advocate friends, was telling me that the judicial solutions in India are based on a sigle rule, "Let all guilty be set free, but not a single innocent should be punished". The rule allows all to defends to any extent, all are given equal and all possible chance to speak up and prove innocent before they are punished. The legal system is also based on another reference as "Equality among equals". Really I didnt understand this. Because, if this is true, the equality in Indian constitution is not exactly the way we learnt. The academic books has the changed, the "equality" we learnt is different than "Equality among equals". Everybody gets a chance to get to play around the legaslative infrastructure.

IT Literacy in India
The imagination does nto end, but something fascinating has been in pictures. World bank is funding a IT literacy project in Pune(offcourse my home town). The project will have buses with mobile computing facilities and instructors on the wheels. They will move around in Pune district, to create awareness among the rural India.
Some IT business man will say does that going to beat the exodus of work flowing to China. The country does need the dollars flowing to India. This effort will increase the possiblities for the same. May be "Baccha Bachha IT savvy" motto is pushing the ideas to come.
Hope this project hits!! then we'll definitely have the farmers scheduling a season's cultivation using Microsoft Project (Version will be like 2010???)
